Nickelodeon’s Unfiltered
The pandemic was a storm that battered the television production industry, but it also proved to be the perfect conditions for the unlikely success of Nickelodeon’s Unfiltered to blossom and flourish. I started work part-way through the first season, creating a lens, maybe two every two weeks to disguise the mystery celebrity from the young contestants. Nickelodeon’s executives quickly realized they had a hit on their hands and ordered more episodes. By season 2, I was the primary creator of the Snapchat Lenses used on the show, creating two or sometimes three lenses a week— 40 total so far and still counting. It sometimes feels like a marathon, but maybe that’s why I get a ‘runner’s high’ when I’m creating AR and doing what I love.
